During my visit to Iraq in 2011 I went to Erbil Citadel in the downtown area and took a photo for the Statue of Mubarak Ben Ahmed Sharaf-Aldin (1169-1239) located at the main gateway of the ancient Erbil Citadel. Sitting on the top of the hill and holding a book and facing the Erbil Citadel traditional market.
below is written on the statue (historical information)
Mubarak Ben Ahmed Sharaf-Aldin (1169-1239) known as Ibn Almustawfi, a historian and a minister of Erbil in the era of Sultan Muzafardin, Ibn Alumustawfi was born in Erbil. He has written in several areas, history, literature and language. His masterpiece is a four volume books of (History of Erbil).
Unfortunately I could not took pictures for the Citadel itself. Once I took a photo for the statue, I turned around and saw the beautiful top view of the busy Erbil traditional market cooled by its fountains in the middle and took below shots and they turned out beautiful.
