The Beauty of Analog Photography in Digital!

For the last few weeks I was totally hooked by Hipstamatic iPhone App and its Films and Lens combinations. It is a kind of a unique experience trying those combinations of various films and lenses and sense the value of film look and its vintage expression.

In addition to that, you can’t see the effect of the lens and film while you are taking the picture so it is exciting to focus on composition and connecting with the picture and lighting then see the outcome after it is processed, so it is simulating the film experience which the way people used to do it in film days in the darkroom to see the results and do manual dodging and burning with chemicals!

Below is few pictures I took for my daughter using my iPhone only with Hipstamatic app using the Tinto 1884 Lens and both the D-Type (daguerreotype) Plate film, C-Type (cyanotype) Plate and Rock BW-11 films, then did some post processing in Snapseed app to add sharpness and contrast. I put a side light on her face, it was casual and quick so I did not perfected the direction of light. Due to the darkness I only could get the last one sharp trying to hold my hand sturdy and hold my breath! (if you noticed the eyes).
